Spanish Development

At Bend International School, our goal is to build a bilingual community where Spanish is naturally woven into daily learning. In kindergarten and first grade, students develop foundational vocabulary through games, songs, and interactive lessons in a bilingual environment. As they progress through the primary grades, Spanish use increases across subjects, supported by bilingual teachers who blend both languages throughout the day. Instruction often follows the Total Physical Response (TPR) method, combining movement and language for engaging, hands-on learning.

Spanish Integration

Spanish is woven into daily life at Bend International School. Each Friday, students participate in whole-school elective classes taught entirely in Spanish, and Physical Education is conducted in Spanish for grades K–8. Even lunchtime becomes a language-learning opportunity as students order and converse in Spanish. Through our Sister School partnership in Tlaquepaque, Mexico, students communicate with peers in both Spanish and English—building real-world language skills and confidence as bilingual learners.

Join Us

No prior Spanish experience is required to join Bend International School. We welcome students at all language levels and support them as they grow in confidence and fluency through daily immersion. Over time, every student develops the ability to understand and use Spanish naturally—an essential skill in our bilingual, globally minded community.
